The preparation

We approach preparation as a continuous process, without haste but without pause... in which a plan must be established, a list of priorities and put them into practice...

Surely we already have, at home, many of the things that would be necessary for an emergency situation... perhaps we will need to acquire others that we do not have... with time, without haste, according to our possibilities and capacities

Surely we already have many of the useful capacities in difficult situations, but surely we will have to acquire others new ones... but above all practice them

From prepperus we have organized the preparation in 4 main areas:

  • People
  • Housing
  • Mobility
  • Contents

Although it is possible to prepare one or several areas, although any preparation, however minimal, is positive, the ideal is to prepare in the 4 areas since they are related and will allow us to better adapt to any type of future incident.

To make the preparation more efficient, we will consider options that can cover future needs as well as present ones...

For example, having personal equipment for trekking will not only allow us to practice it with the maximum guarantees, but will also ensure that we are well equipped when we need it.

Preparing for a trip to the mountains is not very different from what we propose in the personal preparations of prepperus... it is simply something more specific.

When we prepare the backpack, clothes and footwear, we will take into account the terrain, the time of year, the weather... (Pyrenees, summer, sun and sleeping in a shelter). Most people may think that a pair of sneakers, comfortable clothes, something to eat and drink is enough... and it will be 90% of the time... but... there are always uncertainties... We prepare in case there is rain? or wind? or cold? some more food and drink in case we get lost? a first aid kit in case someone falls? And what if someone twists their ankle? A sleeping bag to spend the night outdoors? Or is it better to take a small tent? A headlamp in case night falls? A rope to secure ourselves? A paper map and compass, in case Wikiloc fails or we run out of battery on our mobile? ... and we can continue with the uncertainties that we know could happen...

It is not only necessary to carry the equipment, you have to know how to use it, be able to carry it, use it in bad weather conditions... tiredness... stress... You have to evaluate the situation, who you are with, what risks there are... what is the best path to follow...
